Audition Details:

Auditions will be held Tuesday, October 28 in the theater at 3:45pm.  Prepare yourself by reading through the full audition packet.

  • Callbacks, if needed, will be held in the Drama Studio (B127). Callbacks are by invitation only and are not indicative of casting. Most actors won’t be needed for Callbacks, so don’t worry if you are not called.

  • The Audition Panel will be composed of: the director: Ms. Heartt, Assistant Director: Mr. Lagomarsino, Vocal Director: Mattea Williams, and Choreographer Alex Corey. Some alumni may join us on the panel as well.

  • CAST LIST: Cast List will be posted on the window at the drama studio, on, www.achsdrama.org, and on ACHS’s Instagram and Facebook pages on a date TBD. Some roles may be communicated directly by the Directors.

  • REHEARSALS: A rehearsal schedule will be available with casting. All rehearsals will be held in the choir room, dance studio, or drama studio until we move rehearsals to the theater. All rehearsal conflicts must be communicated within the audition application. Please fill out your Conflicts Calendar carefully!! Please be advised – While we understand that things come up, intentionally not disclosing vacation plans and other conflicts can be cause for removal from a role.

Complete the Audition Form online.

Songs:

  • Choose a song  Anything goes! We would love to hear a musical theatre piece, but the show and character is entirely up to you. If you would like, you can also choose one of the songs from Matilda.

  • Choose a 1-minute section (the best section!) of your song that showcases your talent.

  • Bring the piano accompaniment sheet music for our music director, Mr. Brian, printed double-sided and in a three-ring binder. You will have live accompaniment.

  • Be ready to SLATE - introduce yourself - and ACT the song while singing!

  • Learn the audition choreography using this video. Mr. Alex will go over the choreo at 3:40 onstage before your audition!

Casting requirements:

Matilda is a large-cast show and can feature performers with a variety of abilities.

Listed below are the lead and supporting roles that are available. Please note that this list is not comprehensive, as there are several speaking ensemble roles & ensemble members who sing solo portions of songs. In this production of Matilda, we are looking to create a world that represents the diversity of our school. As such, we both welcome and encourage actors of all races, ethnicities, and gender identities to audition for all roles. All characters use some form of British accent. We are also interested in hearing Italian and Russian dialects for Rudolpho and the Russian Mafia.
